1. Facebook profile photo size

Facebook profile photo size

Facebook profile photos generally your profile photo is going to be square, although a lot of times it does crop it down to a circle, for example in each post on the newsfeed.

So please keep that in mind the profile photo will show at 170px170p, I’ll usually size them at 400px400p because that’s what Twitter and LinkedIn and some other social networks use.

But any square bigger than 170px170p will work the same. Just make sure it looks good tiny, because obviously on a smartphone it’s going to be very, very small.

2. Facebook cover photo size

facebook cover photo size

Facebook cover photo these are at the top of your page officially the sizes are listed as 820px312p again we’re talking pixels on a desktop computer or 640px360p on mobile devices.

Not all of it will show on mobile though the edges get cropped off so keep the essential part in the middle, now I prefer to design mine at 820px461p as suggested.

The top and the bottom will be cropped a little bit in desktop, and the sides will be cropped on mobile so again keep your actual content there in the middle also remember the difference between personal profiles and business pages.

3. Facebook posts photo size

facebook posts photo they can range from a 16:9 ratio which is widescreen like 1920px1080p, up to a 9:16 ratio which is portrait 1080px1920p.

Now I like to go tall with images whenever possible because you take up more real estate in the newsfeed on both desktop and mobile.

A complete photo only takes a little bit of space in the newsfeed square takes a little more, and then a tall photo or a portrait photo takes up a lot more freedom as they’re scrolling.

And my theory is the more time someone’s eyes spend on your image, the more likely you are to get them to stop and engage with it.

4. Facebook video posts photo size

For Facebook video posts photo size for the longest time it was always a 16:9 ratio which is 1920px1080p that’s widescreen. Still, square videos often perform better because they take up more height in the newsfeed just like we talked about for images.

And it’s not officially sanctioned, but you can upload even taller videos but if you do a fully vertical video at a 9:16 ratio 1080px1920p, which is what Facebook and Instagram stories use it will get cropped off at the top and the bottom or have bars on the side so keep that in mind.

5. Facebook ads photo size

Facebook ads the size has been 1200px628p pixels forever, and just recently, Facebook said that we could start using square images in ads, so if you’re going to create those I start at 1200px1200p.

6. Facebook cover group photos size

Facebook recommends a couple more that will cover group photos 1640px859p, but a tiny piece of the top and the bottom won’t show so make sure nothing is essential there.

7. Facebook event photo size
